Smart Vaper Hurricane E Cig – A Refreshing New Twist on the average E Cig Starter Kit, and an Absolutely Top-Notch E Cig Model To Boot
Smart Vaper is an emerging brand on the market, it's products stand right up to the standards set by the likes of the Smokeless Image Volt and Bloog Maxx Fusion. Recently they released an interesting new product called the SmartVaper Hurricane, and it's been talked about a lot on the electronic cigarette forums and on the other top review sites. Given the hype surrounding SmartVaper's version of Katrina (too soon?), I felt that I should do a thorough review of the Hurricane so anyone that was considering buying it could get the full facts.
There are a bunch of different variations of SmartVaper products and even of the Hurricane model E Cigarette itself, but my review is concerning the Hurricane PCC Standard Kit. I received this kit from the company a few weeks ago for the purposes of this review, and – as all reviewers say after that statement – you can check out my findings below!
Specs and Overview of the Hurricane E Cig and Hurricane Starter Kits
The SmartVaper Hurricane is the same model as the Smokeless Image Volt and the Bloog MaxxFusion, meaning that it is the kr808d-M, an advancement on the past kr808d-1 models of the past – a much improved version. In more basic terms for those not familiar with the progression of the kr808 models, it is a 2-piece, cartomizer based electronic cigarette that has a battery and replaceable flavored cartomizers.
In terms of the starter kits that the Hurricane E Cig comes in, there are 5 options ranging from the $39.95 Super Value Kit to the $99.95 Ultimate Kit. I will explain what came in the kit I reviewed, the Hurricane PCC Standard Kit, and you can check the SmartVaper website to see the differences in all the other kits.
Here's what came in the mail with the PCC Standard Kit:
- 2x Rechargeable 78mm Lithium Ion Battery
- 2x 5 packs of flavored cartomizers, each with 4 cartomizers and 1 tankomizer
- 1x Personal Charging Case
- 1x USB Charger
- 1x Wall Charger
- 1x FREE 5mL bottle of e-Liquid
What I Liked About my Hurricane E Cig Starter Kit
For those that don't want to stick around for my long-winded review, I've picked out a few talking points that stick out about the SmartVaper Hurricane starter kits in general. I personally reviewed the PCC Standard Starter Kit, but each and every one of their starter kits includes some things that make them different from every other brand on the market.
4 Cartomizers and a…Tankomizer?
Perhaps the coolest thing about the SmartVaper Hurricane kits is that they come with the standard cartomizers, but instead of a 5th cartomizer, SmartVaper includes a tankomizer. What the hell is a tankomizer you ask? A tankomizer is sort of like a cartomizer, but not really at all. It screws onto the battery in the same way and it also allows you to refill it with e-Liquid, but it doesn't have the absorbent polyfill on the inside and it's clear so you can see how much e-Liquid you have remaining and when you need to refill. Not only is the idea of the tankomizer cool in itself, but the SmartVaper tankomizer is of the newest and greatest technology; old tanks needed a whole process involving a blunt needle to refill them, but here you only need to pull off the cap and fill and then shut it again. Awesome.
Free Bottle of Premium USA 'Smart' E-Liquid
I'm so sick of seeing cheap knock-off starter kits that only include the battery and cartomizers, and then they don't encourage you to refill with e-Liquid because they want to keep you buying their cartomizer refills over and over again. SmartVaper sells their starter kits in the complete opposite way. They not only encourage refilling and saving money using e-Liquid, but they make it extremely easy to do so and even include a FREE bottle of their e-Liquid in every kit. This is quite literally the only brand on the market that does something like this. Even their super budget $39.95 Super Value Kit comes with this, and that's just amazing. It doesn't hurt that SmartVaper has some amazing USA made e-Liquids and one of the largest selections of flavors that I've ever seen. Since their line of e-Liquids has come out, it's been in my top 3 of any brand on the market.
Breaking It Down
Besides the amazing features – the free bottle of e-Liquid and the epic tankomizer feature – let's take a look at the full breakdown of the SmartVaper Hurricane. Is it worth the price? How long does the battery last? Will the vapor life up to your standards? All your questions will be answered in the category by category breakdown below.
Design and Appearance – Can a Hurricane be sexy?
Hurricanes are typically the opposite of sexy, and it's certainly not the same sort of extreme here for the SmartVaper Hurricane, but it's definitely not the greatest looking E Cig out there either. The batteries come in only two options – black and white. So it's pretty black and white that the Hurricane is one of the blander electronic cigarettes out there in terms of color selection. While this may not be a huge deal to some people, many others like to have some variety and pretty colors involved in their e Cigarettes. For me, just having a black option is good enough for me. I hate the white batteries with orange LEDs because random people in public will get all pissy and think I'm smoking a tobacco cigarette indoors and call me out on it. Some electronic cigarette brand s (like the crappy brands that order straight from China and resell in the states) will only have the white option – so just the fact that the Hurricane comes in black is good enough for me.
The Battery – Is the Hurricane a Category 1 or a Category 5?
The battery on the Hurricane is a typical kr808 battery.
It has a 280maH which is the measure that tells how long the battery will last and a 280mAH battery will typically last a few hours. You won't be able to take this battery out for a night out and have it last the entire night – but this can be remedied by the personal charging case that we'll discuss in the next section. All in all, in terms of battery length, this battery lasts as long as any mini electronic cigarette on the market. It won't blow you away but it does the job if you want to have the convenience of a miniature eCig.Now for the other aspect of batteries – the options for manual or automatic. Luckily, the SmartVaper Hurricane comes in both. As you place your order for any of the Hurricane starter kits, you'll have the option to choose manual or automatic. The manual battery has a switch on it that allows the vaper to control the length and timing of their hit, and it usually creates a stronger vapor related to the time inhaling. It's better for conserving your battery and veteran smokers typically like this option because there is no automatic cut off and you can pull on it for as long as you want. If you don't want to fool around with switches, the automatic battery is the option for you. You can just whip the e-Cig out of your personal charging case and start puffing away.
The Personal Charging Case – The Protective Floodgates that New Orleans Didn't Have?
Too soon? I don't mean to offend anyone in New Orleans, the event was a horrible tragedy, but I can't resist a good play on words! Anyway, the starter kit I ordered (PCC Standard Kit) comes with SmartVaper's interesting new Personal Charging Case. For starters, a personal charging case is a case that is itself charged and then it charges your batteries while it's in your pocket. It's great for keeping your battery charged on the go and it's a must have for any serious e-Smoker.
The SmartVaper PCC is the same that you'll see in many kr808 model starter kits. It's a black case that has two slots, one where you can plug your battery in to charge and another where you can store either extra cartomizers or an extra battery. The coolest feature is probably that you can read the battery levels of both the battery being charged and the case itself (though admittedly the charge level indicator of the case never really works, shh). There is a little window where you can see your battery being charged and the case lights up blue sometime when you push the button. It's cool I guess. Either way, it's a personal charging case and it gets the job done while adding a little style on the side as well.
The Vapor Quality and Throat Hit – How Big of a Storm?
Because the SmartVaper Hurricane is a kr808d-M model, it is far improved from the classic kr808d-1 models and produces some really amazing vapor. The connection between the battery and cartomizers is better and the cartomizers are bottom coil with improved polyfill and wick systems – this just makes for a better experience. The vapor of the Hurricane sits right along with other top electronic cigarettes on the market and I really enjoyed. It may not match up to the big 'ol personal vaporizers that us experience e-Smokers use, but it's great on the go and for anyone looking to get introducted to vaping.
Flavors and e-Liquids – A Happy Hurricane?
The best part about SmartVaper and their Hurricane model electronic cigarette is the flavors, cartomizers and e-Liquids that they have to offer. The pre-filled cartomizers are great, they taste amazing and avoid that nasty taste and aftertaste that so many kr8 cartos have and that we've all come to hate. So like I said, the kit comes with 4 cartomizers. I chose these flavors: Ry4, Tobacco, Menthol and Grape. Not much to report except that they were all extremely tasty and lived up to the SmartVaper namesake. But let's get to the main attraction here, the SmartVaper line of e-Liquids.
SmartVaper has not only a huge array of e-Liquids, but they are USA made and some of the best quality e-Liquids on the market. A few other top brands offer American e-Liquid like this and SmartVaper ranks right up with them. They have 3 categories of e-Liquids – you've got your tobaccos, your menthols and your natural flavors. The most intriguing category is of course the natural flavors. They have some interesting flavors in this category like Cola and Vanilla Cupcake. I haven't samples all of these flavors but I they are anything like the flavors that I did sample, they will probably be pretty good.
The biggest draw for me in choosing a SmartVaper Hurricane starter kit are these e-Liquids, especially the fact that every kit comes with a free 5mL bottle and the tankomizer to fill them into. This compatibility and encouragement for refilling really makes this a trustworthy brands that is furthering e-Smoking and offering great e-Liquids to boot.
Final Thoughts on the Hurricane
After getting to spend some time with the Hurricane and checking out the interesting features that SmartVaper has incorporates, I have to definitely recommend it as one of the top mini electronic cigarettes on the market. The fact that they include a tankomizer with all of their starter kits really is a fresh new take on kr808 model e-Cigs and there is nothing better than refilling that cool little tank and being able to watch your juice levels go down and knowing exactly when to refill! Add in SmartVaper's amazing selection of e-Liquids to the equation and you're looking at a really unique option in terms of mini e-Cigarettes on the market. I really like what SmartVaper did here and it will really help show themselves as a power to reckon with on the e-Cigarette market. You really have to support a company that offers these USA made e-Liquids, I'm getting sick of that overseas chintzy juice!
If you're looking to get started with e-Cigarettes, the Hurricane is a great option because they have everything you're looking for, right up from the budget $39.95 super value kit to the kit that I reviewed, the PCC Standard Kit. This is at present our top rated choice of KR808D-1 E Cig on the market, due to the Smart Vaper Hurricane E Cig's innovative twists on the almost universal e cig starter kit mold and as being a fantastic value for the absolute latest cutting-edge performance and vapor production the unit delivers.
